GRILLA, Meat On The Spit. Bar & Grill Review. Liverpool | Munchlax Adventures

Grilla Restaurant

I'm currently sick with a fever, so what's a better way to get over my misery than to think and talk about food right? Food is always the way to my heart! So today I'm reviewing a grill restaurant based in Liverpool, this is one is quite exciting because people have said "it offers a taste of Greece" and I don't really go to grill places in Birmingham.

This visit was from our weekend getaway to Liverpool. It was actually my first time visiting Liverpool and wowww the city had a lot more going on than I expected, I might need to pay another visit soon! We wore matching outfits because we're extra like that; the playsuit I'm wearing is from Missguided.

► Drinks:

To start off the night, we ordered Passion Martinis. It was a pretty strong cocktail, we were already feeling the buzz from a few sips! Made with vodka, Cointreau, passion fruit syrup and passoa, the flavour was nicely balanced given the high alcohol content in it. You could taste the passion fruit and it wasn't too sweet.

► Main:

Phwoarrrr, look at that portion size! I love how they served the food on wooden boards. Claudia got the T-bone steak which also came with a bowl of garden salad and fries. I opted for a veggie option because for some reason that night, I was trying to be "a good vegetarian and do my part for the planet" yeah.... talk about having a weird mood swing and the wrong timing for it at a meat speciality restaurant! For those that aren't familiar with my blog, i'm not actually a vegetarian but sometimes I have mini episodes of trying to contribute to sustainability. Enough rambling, the veggie grill had grilled pitta bread, zucchini courgette, peppers, mushrooms, fries and sweet chilli sauce. It was a bit bland, definitely could have done with some seasoning but the sauce made up for the lack of flavour. I do wish I went for a good old steak or chicken instead!

► Dessert:

We didn't actually order the cake, the owner of Grilla was super lovely and adored our matching outfits so he gave us a complimentary cake to finish off the night. Such a cute surprise and it tasted so good! I'm not sure what cake it was since I can't find it on the menu but it had a rich chocolate and berries flavour, topped with some light and fluffy fresh cream.

► Overall:

The atmosphere was super chill, the staff were super friendly and of course, I love their cocktail deals (because you know I'm an alcoholic, we love a bevvy and even more when it's discounted!). Food-wise, in my experience, I feel like their meaty options are much better than their vegetarian ones, well it is a meat grill restaurant after all! Personally, I wouldn't order the veggie grill again because it was lacking seasoning, but the steak was juicy. I would love to try out their Greek dishes like the souvlakis next time since we only tried out the grill section. The portions are huge, which is great! I would rate Grilla 6.5/10.

Andrew Barton Haircare No Weight Hydrate Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment Review | ASDA

I’m always on the hunt for affordable and genuinely good hair care products because my damaged hair needs all the help it can get, without breaking the bank! Andrew Barton has released an extensive line of hair care products and they were super lovely to send me a few products to try out. They have a wide range of products for different hair types and needs. I have been testing their No Weight Hydrate range for a good few months now, so here are my final thoughts~

►PRODUCT INFO:

The No Weight Hydrate range is suited for those who have oily roots and dry ends that require frequent washing. It contains Moroccan argon oil and coconut milk to nourish your hair without weighing it down. There's also shine-complex ingredients which I won’t get into the science because let’s be honest, me and you probably don’t understand it and what it does.

► REVIEW:

Shampoo: The weirdest shampoo I’ve tried in my entire life! I don’t rate it; the consistency is very runny, it’s almost as thin as water. Yeah... I’m not a massive fan of the formula. Great start to the review. :) The shampoo is very gentle, which is great if you wash your hair frequently because it doesn’t dry out your hair. However, if you’ve left the oils to build up over the course of a few days, you’ll have to wait a few minutes for the shampoo to break down the oils and cleanse the hair properly. Otherwise, your hair will still feel dirty and greasy after.

Conditioner: The conditioner was mediocre, it wasn't bad, it wasn’t amazing. There are better conditioners on the market in the same price range.

Treatment Mask: Okay, this one works nicely, it made my hair soft, more manageable when drying and my hair wasn't weighted down. I actually ended up using it on the daily to replace the conditioner. As for the conditioner, I gave it to a friend since it wasn't providing enough hydration my thirsty hair is looking for.

► OVERALL:

From the products I tried, I think the products are a very hit and miss. If you are interested in the products then Andrew Barton is exclusively sold at ASDA. The majority of the shampoo and conditioners retail for £5 but if you catch them during the ASDA rollback, you can get them for £3.5 or less.

*Disclaimer: Products were complimentary and under no obligation to review.

My New Year Resolution and How I Style Cropped Jumpers | FEMME LUXE

Happy new year my loves, hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and were spoilt rotten! Now it's time to grind and kick some ass, 2019 is going to be ours.

For 2019, my main goal is to start posting content consistently again. Last year I was working 2 jobs while finishing off my final year of university. I struggled with managing time to do the things I love (besides from drinking, even with going on nights out I didn't go out as much as I would have liked to). This year I want to dedicate more time on myself, your wellbeing is just as important as paying the bills. Also, I've been reflecting on what made love creating digital content in the first place, I love connecting with others in the community, making a positive impact and that it throws me out of my comfort zone. So I'm going to work harder to try to bring out content consistently across my social media channels and do more challenging things!

To ease into my 2019 goal, FemmeLuxe sent me this super cosy jumper (which i've been living in for the past few days) and I pushed myself to take more photos outdoors again. I forgot how scary it can be with people walking past and watching you, but I did it! The outfit photos turned out decent but it would be even better if I had a photographer! Hint hint, someone please be my Instagram husband.

I love styling off-shoulder with a good old pair of mom jeans, they just go so well together like a match made in heaven. How do you like styling your cropped jumpers? and what are your new year resolutions?

Outfit Details:

Jumper: Femme Luxe - Aspen Black Off Shoulder Jumper
Jeans: I Saw It First - Light Blue Mom Jeans
Shoes: Topshop

*Disclaimer: Complimentary jumper from FemmeLuxe

Love Island Georgia Inspired Christmas Dinner Outfit | I SAW IT FIRST

The party season is coming up and i'm channeling my inner Love Island style this year! Love Island's Georgia actually wore a white version of this dress and a black sleeveless version but the ones she had were from Pretty Little Thing. Mine one is from I Saw It First, they're amazing with their sales and usually have 30-50% off.

The dress is a completely different style to what I would usually go for, the color and high neck cut gives off an elegant princess vibe. It actually makes me feel like a mini Christmas dress, I should complete this look by wrapping some tinsel or fairy lights around me. This dress would be cute for those Christmas cheese boards sessions and dinner parties!

What style are you going for this holiday season?

Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Vault | Dark Magic Palette Review and Swatches

When I first saw Jaclyn Hill's Vault collection on trendmood's Instagram, I was like OMGGG I need it in my life! The colours in the Dark Magic and Bling Boss palette were right up my alley since I don't own anything like that in my collection and I loved her first palette with Morphe. But BOYYY the mattes swatch horribly! It's not the same quality as her first palette. I'm not going to waste any time and jump right into it.

LOOOOK, it swatches so dry and chalky! I definitely did receive a "faulty" one and it sucks to say I'm not the only person since Morphe had quality inconsistency in their batches. However, the customer service was actually really nice and sent me a replacement palette.

Potion (the army green shade) is the most problematic one, no matter how much you blend it, the shadow clings onto areas making your eyeshadow patchy af. It looks disgusting right?

My Dark Magic Look:

Here is the look I came up with. I applied the shadow on a clean eye with no primer, i've heard the P Louise Base is amazing for making these shadows blend nicely. The shadows weren't so bad once I started layering the darker colours, it's still patchy but not as noticeable. The shimmers in the palette are stunning though, I would only reach for this palette for the shade Power Cut, the rest of the shadows are very ehhh.

I wouldn't recommend this palette, it's the worst performing palette I own. Even though the price point is good, the shadows are not the usual morphe quality.  Drugstore makeup nowadays is offering better quality than this, it's such a shame because the colours are so unique.

Have you tried any of the vault palettes? Did you love or hate the palette?
