London – Bonhams presents the anticipated Luxury Handbags sale on 1-10 June 2026. The curated sale will celebrate iconic and creative collaborations, notably from Louis Vuitton with multiple lots celebrating the groundbreaking collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami, a partnership that redefined the relationship between luxury fashion and contemporary art, presented alongside designs from Hermès, Chanel and Christian Dior.

First unveiled in 2003 under the creative direction of Marc Jacobs, the collaboration brought Murakami’s vibrant visual language to some of Louis Vuitton’s most recognisable designs, transforming the House’s historic Monogram canvas, which was originally designed in 1896 by Georges Vuitton as a tribute to his father, into a playful and collectable artistic statement. Blending Japanese pop art with traditional craftsmanship, the collection became an instant phenomenon and remains one of the most celebrated collaborations in fashion history. The auction brings together an exceptional selection of rare and sought-after pieces spanning the collaboration’s most iconic motifs, including the Multicolore Monogram, Panda and Monogramouflage designs, celebrating the monogram’s 130-year legacy.

Meg Randell, Bonhams Head of UK and Europe Designer Handbags and Fashion commented:
“Highly coveted by collectors worldwide, the Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami collaboration presents the fusion of art, design, and luxury. The forthcoming auction not only honours the Louis Vuitton monogram as it marks 130 remarkable years but also celebrates the enduring legacy of this creative partnership, highlighting its lasting impact and influence on artist collaborations within the luxury industry. From limited-edition bags and travel accessories preserved in remarkable condition, the sale offers a unique opportunity to acquire works that continue to influence both fashion and contemporary culture.”
