KPop Diet #16: Lee Guk Joo's Konjac Diet - LOST 6KG IN 2 WEEKS!

Lee Guk Joo is a highly popular comedian/gag woman, you may have seen her on many Korean reality shows (if you watch them ^.<). On KBS 2TV's Emergency Escape 1, she revealed on a episode that she went on the Konjac Diet and lost 6kg in 2 weeks!

So what is this Konjac diet that GukJoo speaks of?

Konjac is a root food that has been used for thousands of years for weight lost in Japan. Konjac has almost zero calories so it acts a brilliant filler. You can eat as much konjac as you want throughout the diet, so you won't experience any hunger and can enjoy a full meal with fewer calories. Konjac is suitable for everyone as it's gluten free, 100% natural and non allergenic. It's commonly found in a noodle or cube form.

Konjac also provides many health benefits!

  • It supports insulin resistance, so helps to control blood sugar levels. Great for diabetics.
  • Helps to cleanse the digestive systems and is effective against digestive troubles as 70% of Konjac is made of up non irritating fibres.
  • Lowers cholesterol and triglyceride levels

You can find many Konjac meal recipes online, most of them are super easy and quick to cook!

Would you try out this diet and what do you think of it?

CAFE ROUGE, Birmingham. Summer 2017 Menu | #SummerTasteAdventure

I live for good food and stunning views, Cafe Rouge offers exactly that! Cafe Rouge were super lovely and invited a bunch of us Birmingham bloggers to sample and try out their brand new Spring/Summer inspired menu. Their previous Winter event (read about it here ^^) blew me away, but this Summer event was even better! Cafe Rouge doesn't fail to impress. Let's get started with the summer adventure~

► Gin Bloom Cocktails:

We was greeted with prosecco and gin & tonic as Cafe Rouge launched 4 new Gin Bloom cocktails flavours - Elderflower, Grapefruit & Orange, Cucumber & Watermelon and Green Tea & Lemongrass. I went for the Grapefruit & Orange gin, which I really liked! I am normally not fond of gin because of the bitter aftertaste, but the grapefruit notes gives a strong citrus flavour thats sweet, refreshing and very up lifting. Couldn't taste the gin yasss.

► Nibbles & Starters:

Please excuse my chipped nail polish~ Along with our cocktails, we were served with a plate of nibbles. There were three different toppings served on sourdough bread - Salmon with picked fennel, Crab & avocado and their classic Pate with shallot & raisin chutney. The Tian of Crab and Avocado was my favourite out of the three, which is the one i'm holding and one of the new summer items. The creaminess of the avocado and crab with coriander mayonnaise just compliment each other so well. I want to go back Cafe Rouge right now for some more!

We were also served duck, that comes with a creamy sauce and potatoes. I thought it was quite interesting since i'm used to Chinese restaurants serving duck with a fruity sauce. So it was a really nice change. ^^ To finish off the nibbles I also tried some of their artesian deli meats from their French production sites.

► Main & Mocktails:

Before my main arrived, I had some cheeky red wine and a Peach Ice Tea mocktail~ Changed from cocktails to mocktails because I'm a lightweight but I highly recommend it! The peach flavour was so juicy and luscious. Literally to die for and perfect for the weather!

For my main I went for one of the new summer items called Tagine. It's a Moroccan style stew served with a Mediterranean Khobez flatbread. The stew is packed full of veggies - butternut squash, carrots, spinach, chickpeas, courgettes, coriander and almonds. Full of texture and flavours going on; it was truly heart warming like comfort food. Just what I needed to cure a hangover.

Couldn't resist another mocktail before the desserts arrived. This time I went for French Garden Fizz recommended by Abbiegayle, which is a very fresh and sweet drink with elderflower petals, fresh mint and lemon & lime juice. This turned out to be my favourite drink from the evening. If I were describe the taste of summer with a drink, it would be the French Garden Fizz mocktail. I do wish I got round to trying all the mocktail on the menu, they all sounded so delicious.

► Desserts:

For dessert, we had a selection of treats! I was craving Creme Brulee, so I was filled with joy when it saw it. Always a go to desert classic. The desserts all tasted so heavenly. My top treat had to be the Raspberry Parfait with salted cameral pistachio; it was so smooth and I loved the sharpness of the raspberry.

► Overall:

To finish off the event Cafe Rouge were super adorable and gave me flowers! Whattt? Sweetest restaurant ever. <3 Anyway~ I really enjoyed my time at Cafe Rouge. Not just the only food, I enjoyed everything from the incredible atmosphere, friendly staff and stunning Mailbox view. Cafe Rouge always make me feel welcomed. Loving all the fruity goodness and refreshing flavours on the summer menu, I will be back for some more mocktails indeed. Thank you Cafe Rouge for once again hosting such an amazing event and I am so grateful for the invite. <3

MAYBELLINE | Matte Maker Mattifying Powder - 10 Classic Ivory Review

Reviewing one of my everyday products before I use it all up and forget about it oops. As you can see I have really hit pan on this, does anyone else get satisfied when you hit pan or manage to use up a whole product? Anyway lets get to review and see how it performs!

► Info and Usage:

So the Matte Maker powder claims to be an all day powder and to have millions of powerful mattifying particles to instantly absorb oils for a flawless matte finish. I like to use the product with my large galaxy powder brush from Zaful.

► Performance:

This is my face after foundation and before applying powder. Theres a bit of shine because I tend to go for foundations that have a dewy finish for a healthy and radiant look. I also have combination skin; my T zone gets super oily after a few hours.

The powder is very fine and it blends seamlessly with my skin. It doesn't appear cakey and has a nice velvet finish. Which I loveee~ It pretty much does everything you could ask for in a powder (beside additional pore blurring features etc). It has a sheer coverage/tint of colour. It keeps my face matte hour for around 5 hours, I do need to do touch ups throughout the day. Especially now that the weather is blazing and a little humid!

► Overall

On average, the powder manages to keep my face matte and shine free for around 5-6 hours. I do like the powder, but its nothing to rave about nor do I have any complaints. I think its a great product for those new to makeup or for those looking for an affordable drugstore product. The only downside is that you will need to touch up after a few hours. Nevertheless it's a decent everyday product that does the job and what it claims.

►  Rating: 7/10

Which products have you hit pan on? ^^ Let me know in the comments down below~

Let's just pray there won't be any scandals or missing highlighters with this release.

BANISH ACNE SCARS Vitamin C Serum (The Banish Oil) Review

Banish $49
Banish $49 | LINK

Writing this review again because the original didn't save urghhh. Anyway how's everyone doing? I've been trying to get a sexy tan because the sun has been blazzzzing~ Moving on, I've been following Perfect Beauty, now known as The Acne Channel on Youtube since my teenage acne days. Thankfully my skin has cleared now but I still look after it to prevent acne and scars. The last few weeks I having been putting one her well known products - The Banish Oil to the test. Carry on reading to see how it worked! ^.<

► Product:

This product was formally known as the Banish Vitamin C Serum (yes I have their old packaging) before it got renamed it to the Banish Oil. The formula and the amount of you product you get is still the same. I love that the product is made from natural ingredients. The serum helps to protect the skin with antioxidant ingredients such as Vitamin C, E and Ferulic Acid. I have noticed the serum getting darker after a few weeks, which is not much of concern to me as it just shows the ingredients used are fresh and there are no preservatives added.

► Usage:

I used to it after my micro-derma roller sessions to help heal scars quicker, now I just use the serum before I sleep to help brighten up and moisturise my skin. It does wonders in reducing hyperpigmention (acne scars) and improving skin texture. I prefer to use it at night rather than day time as the serum is quite rich so a little goes a long way. It also does leave a slight oily/sticky feeling on the skin due to the glycerin. It acts as a nice protective barrier, but not a nice feeling during summer nights.

► Overall:

Overall I do like the results of the serum, however would I pay $49 (+ £15 UK shipping) again for such a small amount of product? Probably not for now cos i'm a broke student yo. If it didn't leave the sticky feeling afterwards, then maybe I would splurge and invest in the skincare. If you don't mind spending some extra bucks and do like natural products that does the job of reducing hyperpigmentation and moisturising, then why not? It could fade your scars really quickly too~ ^^

► Rating: 6/10
