Happy Lamb Hot Pot Birmingham Review

🥘 This lamb hotpot speciality just hits the spot. Their broths are so incredibly flavourful, it literally warms your soul. We opted for three flavours to mix up the variety - Nourishing Marrow Chicken Broth, Spicy Marrow Chicken Broth, and Spicy Sour Pickled Cabbage Broth. Usually, spicy broths are my favourite, but the OG Marrow Broth was Chef’s kiss. Simmered for over 6 hours, it was super creamy and paired wonderfully with all of the meats, seafood, vegetables, noodles etc.

🦐 Need I say, the food presentation was immaculate. I mean look at the Seafood Platter and Beef + Lamb Slices. All the ingredients were fresh and high quality.

🥩 My favourite picks and top recommendations are: Prime Sirloin Beef, Lamb Shoulder, Fresh Thick Noodles (super chewy once cooked), BBQ Lamb Skewers (these are fresh off the grill and ready to eat. Don’t make the same silly mistake as me, where I dipped them into the broth lol) and their homemade plum juice. Have to throw in some Tofu and Enoki Mushrooms too.

🌟 I appreciate they don’t have a time limit because we really took our sweet time devouring everything and cooking at our own pace. The staff were so welcoming and attentive, I want to go back already!

Haidilao Hotpot Birmingham Review

Hot pot to the Chinese is what Fondue Savoyarde is to the French, a merry ritual renowned for its social aspect. Sharing is the name of the game: dole out the cooked meat to your friends and don’t bogart the shrimp paste!

Haidilao’s contemporary marble interior oozes class. Their iPad menus further adds to the premium experience.

You can choose up to 4 broths from the 8 available. The beef tallow spicy and mala spicy are essentials! Chicken and mushrooms are good but not as flavourful as other broths I’ve tried. Tomato is bang on point. Pickled Chinese cabbage is a little too sour. Still need to try the laksa and sukiyaki.

HOT POT MUST HAVES / RECOMMENDATIONS:

🐠 Seafood platter (King prawns, mussels, fresh scallops, boneless basa fish and squid)
🦐 Smashed shrimp paste with seaweed
🥩 Sliced beef sirloin
🩸Blood tofu
🫔 Dry tofu rolls
🍜 Hand-pulled noodles. *Includes a little noodle dance when dishing up.

Their superior service is ✨ flawless ✨. From complimentary snacks, and disposable toothbrushes to high-tech smart toilets and more. They’ve nailed down the details to the tea. Hello, other restaurants please take notes. ‼️

Although, I wish they had the capacity to provide manicures and board games like their London counterparts.

Estado da India - Luso-Indian Birmingham Restaurant Review

Fall in love with the most incredible Indian-Portuguese tapas-style dishes. 🇮🇳🇵🇹

Estado da India has brought to Birmingham something completely unique the city has never seen before. I was astounded by the powerful fusion of flavours and spice. The food is all served on small plates, allowing you to explore an array of different dishes. Between the two of us, we ordered:

🥗 Lamb Arroz
🥩 Beef Short Rib Espetada
🐤 Chicken Cafreal
🐙 Octopus & Potatoes
🐠 Fish Mappas
🍘 Goan Páo Bun
🥔 Marcela Potato
🍞 Naan Bread
🍮 Raspberry Pastel De Nata

The star of the show had to be the Beef Short Rib Espetada, the meat was so succulent and tender, I need another plate ASAP! I also highly recommend the Lamb Arroz and Chicken Cafreal.

Overall, we were really impressed and had such an enjoyable experience. The food exceeded our expectations, the service was excellent and the interior was beautifully decorated with vibrant artwork

The perfect date night treat.
